An elderly woman in Australia is facing charges after a young boy tragically died in an alleged hit-and-run.
Police say the 84-year-old woman was driving in Teesdale, Victoria, on March 27th when her car hit a 6-year-old boy who was walking to school. The incident happened around 8 a.m., and sadly, the boy died at the scene.
The boy has been named as Caleb Wesley. Reports say he was with his two siblings, who are 9 and 12 years old, when the accident happened.
After the incident, the driver allegedly left the scene. However, police later found the car at a home in Teesdale.
The woman is now charged with failing to stop after an accident, not providing help to the injured boy, and not reporting the collision to the police.
She has been released from custody but must appear in court later this month.
Covenant College, where Caleb was a student, is deeply saddened by his death. The school’s leader said Caleb was a kind child who always thought of others. The school is asking for prayers for Caleb’s family and everyone affected by this sad event.
