A Pennsylvania man is recovering after being accidentally shot by his dog.
Police in Shillington are looking into what happened. They say the 53-year-old man was cleaning his shotgun at home. He put the gun down on his bed, and then his dog jumped onto the bed. Somehow, the shotgun went off, hitting the man in the back.
It’s not clear exactly how the dog caused the gun to fire. Police are trying to figure out if the dog’s paw got caught on the trigger, if the safety was off, or if there was a problem with the gun itself.
The man’s son was home at the time and called for help. The injured man was taken to the hospital for surgery. When police arrived, they found him on the floor. He was awake.
Police remind everyone to treat every gun as if it’s loaded. They say to always point it in a safe direction and keep your finger off the trigger. The police are still investigating the incident.
