Jordin Sparks, the former “American Idol” winner, believes her 7-year-old son, Dana Isaiah Thomas Jr., has inherited her musical talent.
At the Elizabeth Taylor Night of Compassion event in Beverly Hills, California, Sparks shared her excitement about her son’s singing ability. She affectionately calls him “DJ” and is amazed by his talent for hitting notes.
Sparks mentioned how special it feels to sing with DJ, noting that he can join in harmoniously. She and her husband, Dana Isaiah, are considering ways to nurture his musical gift. Voice lessons are a possibility, and the family enjoys singing together. One of their favorite songs to sing is from the musical “Wicked,” especially the high notes.
Sparks is open to sharing their duets with fans in the future, but she wants to ensure it’s DJ’s choice. She doesn’t want to force him into a career simply because she’s a singer. Instead, she wants him to explore his interests and will support him if he decides to pursue music.
Sparks and her husband welcomed DJ in 2018 and have cherished their journey into parenthood. While she occasionally shares glimpses of their life on social media, she prioritizes DJ’s well-being and allows him to make his own decisions about his future.
