A new series is set to delight fans of Marvel comics as Bloomsbury has teamed up with Marvel to roll out the “Marvel Age of Comics.” This multi-year project will explore the rich history of beloved characters like Spider-Man and Iron Man, giving readers an inside look at the creation and development of these iconic superheroes.
Starting this fall, the series will kick off with volumes on characters such as Doctor Strange, The Mighty Avengers of the 1970s, and Daredevil. Each book will blend history with personal stories, supported by artwork from Marvel’s extensive digital collection. This collaboration is inspired by Bloomsbury’s successful 33 1/3 series, which covers influential albums and artists in the music industry.
Sven Larsen, Marvel’s vice president of licensed publishing, expressed his excitement about the partnership, highlighting Bloombury’s reverence for the source material and its academic insight. Haaris Naqvi, from Bloomsbury USA, also shared his enthusiasm, recalling how reading Marvel comics as a child shaped his appreciation for storytelling. He hopes this new series will evoke similar nostalgia for its readers.
As Marvel continues to dominate the superhero landscape, this series promises not just to celebrate the comics but also to connect with long-time fans.
