Sean “Diddy” Combs is taking legal action against NBC and Peacock for airing a documentary about his career in music and the sexual misconduct allegations against him. The lawsuit claims that the documentary, titled Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy, defamed Combs by hinting at serious accusations, including claims that he is involved in multiple deaths of people close to him.
The lawsuit was filed in New York State Supreme Court and argues that the documentary features interviews with people who have accused Combs, along with comments from past associates. One of those comments suggested that Kim Porter, Combs’ former partner and mother of three of his children, may have been murdered.
In the complaint, Combs’ team stated that the documentary “shamelessly promotes conspiracy theories" and gives the impression that he could be a serial killer. They criticized the way it connects his name to the unfortunate deaths of others.
Another point in the suit discusses a person named Courtney Burgess, who reportedly claimed to have video evidence of Combs committing sexual assaults. The suit asserts that Burgess has never met Combs and that his accusations are baseless. It also contends that NBC aired these claims despite knowing they were false.
Previously, Combs had filed a defamation lawsuit against Burgess and his lawyer earlier in January. As of now, NBC and Peacock have not provided a comment regarding the lawsuit.
Combs’ attorney, Erica Wolff, stated that the documentary dishonestly exploited viewer trust and spread unfounded allegations against him, including severe accusations of murder and sexual assault.
Diddy is currently in custody in New York after being charged with federal offenses related to sex trafficking. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges and continues to deny the allegations made against him by various accusers.
