Sean “Diddy” Combs has publicly apologized for his past behavior, acknowledging the pain he caused in a letter submitted to the court before his sentencing.
Combs admitted to taking “full responsibility and accountability” for his past actions. He described the last two years as the toughest of his life, taking sole blame for his current situation.
The fallen rap mogul claimed he is now free from drugs and alcohol after 25 years, expressing gratitude to God for his newfound strength and clarity.
A jury previously found Diddy guilty on two counts of transporting individuals for prostitution. While he was acquitted of racketeering and sex trafficking charges, he faces a significant sentence. His legal team is requesting a 14-month penalty, while prosecutors are pushing for a minimum of 11 years in prison.
Combs stated that he is “no longer running” from his mistakes. He expressed deep remorse for the hurt he caused, recognizing that words alone cannot erase the past.
He also addressed an incident involving his ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, where surveillance footage showed him assaulting her in a hotel. He described the images as playing “over and over” in his head and expressed profound regret, stating that his domestic violence will “always be a heavy burden.”
Combs is hoping for a second chance, promising to remain drug-free, non-violent, and peaceful. He asked the judge to consider him as an example of someone who can turn their life around if given the opportunity.
The judge has denied Diddy’s request for a new trial and his demand for an acquittal, stating that the prosecution provided “overwhelming evidence” of his guilt. Diddy could face a maximum of 20 years in prison, with the prosecution recommending a sentence of just over 11 years.
