Dave Matthews has announced that he will be stepping down from his performances at two upcoming events in Los Angeles, which aim to raise funds for wildfire relief. He made this decision due to a serious illness affecting a family member.
Matthews was set to take the stage alongside other prominent artists, including John Mayer, at the FireAid benefit concert, held at the Kia Forum. This event, which features a lineup of big names, aims to support those impacted by the devastating wildfires in the area. A dedicated charity organization has been established to ensure that proceeds from FireAid are properly distributed to those in need, working hand in hand with the Annenberg Foundation for efficient management.
In addition to FireAid, Matthews was also scheduled to perform at the MusiCares Person of the Year gala, an event recognizing the legendary band, the Grateful Dead. MusiCares is committed to providing financial, personal, and medical assistance to music professionals during tough times.
Earlier this month, the Recording Academy partnered with MusiCares to initiate the Los Angeles Fire Relief effort, contributing a generous $1 million to kickstart their fundraising. They have since managed to gather and distribute over $2 million in emergency aid, with total pledges exceeding $4 million to support those in the music industry who have been impacted by the wildfires.
