Lindsay Clancy, a mother facing murder charges, wants her trial moved to a different location. Her lawyer, Kevin Reddington, says it should be moved from Plymouth County to Boston because of all the news coverage.
Clancy is accused of killing her three young children: Cora, who was 5; Dawson, who was 3; and Callan, who was only 8 months old. The trial is currently scheduled to start on February 9.
Reddington argues that it will be hard for Clancy to have a fair trial in Plymouth County. He says there has been too much media attention, including information that could unfairly influence people. He also says the community is very upset about what happened.
Before this request, Reddington also asked the court to delay the trial until May 11.
The 사건 happened in January 2023. Prosecutors say Clancy planned the killings ahead of time, based on her internet searches.
Her husband, Patrick, found her after she jumped out of a window. He called for help and then found their children.
The children were found with exercise bands around their necks. Patrick tried to help them until emergency services arrived.
Sadly, Cora and Dawson died at the hospital that night. Callan passed away two days later.
Clancy survived the fall but suffered serious injuries, including paralysis.
Clancy has pleaded not guilty. Her defense is that she was suffering from postpartum depression and was taking several medications at the time.
Patrick told officials that his wife was seeing multiple doctors and taking drugs like Zoloft, Valium, and Prozac.
