Dick Cheney, a strong voice for conservative values and a key figure in American politics, has passed away at 84.
According to a family statement, Cheney died Monday night due to health issues.
The statement highlighted Cheney’s long service to the nation: “For decades, Dick Cheney served our nation, including as White House Chief of Staff, Wyoming’s Congressman, Secretary of Defense, and Vice President of the United States. Dick Cheney was a great and good man who taught his children and grandchildren to love our country.”
Cheney served under two presidents from the Bush family. He was the Secretary of Defense during the first Gulf War under President George H.W. Bush and later became Vice President under George W. Bush.
As Vice President, Cheney played a vital role in shaping the Bush administration’s policies, especially in response to the September 11th attacks. He firmly supported the use of strong measures to protect the country from terrorism.
Cheney believed in a strong America and worked to advance conservative principles during his time in office. He will be remembered for his dedication to public service and his unwavering commitment to his beliefs.
He is survived by his wife, Lynne, and his daughters, Liz and Mary.
