A reward of over $24,000 has been announced to assist the police investigation into the case of three siblings who were abandoned as infants.
It has been a year since the third sibling, identified as Elsa, was discovered in London. Authorities are still investigating her abandonment and searching for her parents, as stated by the Metropolitan Police on January 18.
Elsa was found when someone reported a newborn baby “wrapped in a towel in a shopping bag” in East London at 9:13 p.m. on January 18, 2024, exactly one year before the latest announcement from the police. Fortunately, Elsa was unharmed and was taken to a hospital, where she was later placed in proper care.
Investigation revealed that Elsa is not the only sibling found under similar circumstances. She is biologically related to two other children abandoned in 2017 and 2019. The first, known as “Baby Harry,” was discovered in a park in Newham on September 17, 2017, followed by “Baby Roman,” who was found by dog walkers in a children’s play park on January 31, 2019. DNA tests confirmed their sibling relationship in April 2024.
The search for the children’s parents continues, with Crimestoppers offering a reward for any anonymous tips that could help. Detective Inspector Jamie Humm of the Child Abuse Investigation Team has shared that extensive efforts have been made over the past year to locate Elsa’s parents.
This investigation has actually been ongoing since Baby Roman was found, involving a review of over 450 hours of CCTV footage and a complete DNA analysis of the mother.
Authorities have suggested that the mother and potentially the father might be living in the Plaistow or East Ham area. Humm expressed serious concerns for the wellbeing of the parents, especially the mother, and appealed to the public for any information.
He believes that someone in the community may have observed the mother during her pregnancies or noticed something unusual, urging them to come forward. Humm reassured the public that even small pieces of information could be helpful, and they should not hesitate to reach out.
He emphasized that professionals working in health, care, or education may have encountered the mother without realizing it at the time.
Detective Inspector Humm concluded the update by assuring the public that Baby Elsa, Harry, and Roman are healthy and that efforts to identify their parents continue.
