The Cincinnati Bengals secured a much-needed victory against the Baltimore Ravens on Thanksgiving night, with a final score of 32-14. This win breaks a four-game losing streak for the Bengals and marks a successful return for quarterback Joe Burrow.
The game, held at the Ravens’ home stadium, saw the Bengals improve their season record to 4-8, while the Ravens, who had been on a five-game winning streak, dropped to 6-6. Fans of the Bengals were eagerly awaiting Burrow’s return, and his performance proved to be worth the wait. After a somewhat slow start, Burrow found his rhythm, and the Bengals’ offense began to click.
The first half of the game was dominated by field goals, with the exception of a 28-yard touchdown run by Derrick Henry for the Ravens early on. The Ravens, despite their recent winning streak, struggled with ball security, fumbling three times in the first half.
One critical play occurred when Ravens tight end Isaiah Likely fumbled just before reaching the end zone, resulting in a touchback for the Bengals. This turnover prevented the Ravens from extending their lead and allowed the Bengals to gain momentum. The Bengals capitalized on this opportunity, eventually taking a 9-7 lead after multiple field goals.
As halftime approached, another fumble by Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson allowed the Bengals to kick another field goal, increasing their lead to 12-7.
The Bengals’ offense came alive in the second half. On their opening drive, Burrow led the team on a 10-play, 61-yard drive, culminating in a 14-yard touchdown pass to tight end Tanner Hudson. The Ravens responded with an 18-yard touchdown run by Keaton Mitchell, narrowing the score to 19-14.
The Bengals then widened the gap again when Burrow connected with Andre Iosivas for a 29-yard touchdown. Despite the Bengals’ improved offensive performance, their defense had been struggling statistically, allowing a high number of yards and points per game. This meant the Ravens were still within striking distance as the fourth quarter began.
However, the Ravens continued to struggle with turnovers. Jackson threw an interception in the end zone, and the team later turned the ball over on downs. Although Bengals running back Samaje Perine fumbled, giving the Ravens a chance to close the gap, the Ravens quickly returned the favor with a fumble of their own by Zay Flowers.
The Bengals then sealed their victory with another field goal, bringing the score to 32-14.
In his return, Joe Burrow completed 24 of 46 passes for 261 yards, with two touchdowns and no interceptions. Ja’Marr Chase was the leading receiver with 110 yards on seven catches, while Chase Brown contributed 78 rushing yards and 35 receiving yards.
Lamar Jackson of the Ravens completed 17 of 32 passes for 246 yards, with one interception and no touchdowns. Derrick Henry rushed for 60 yards, and Isaiah Likely had 95 receiving yards. This win was a significant one for the Bengals, providing a much-needed boost to their season.
