French authorities are looking into the tragic deaths of a British couple who were discovered at their home in France. Andrew and Dawn Searle were found by police after a neighbor raised the alarm when the couple failed to show up for a scheduled dog walk on February 6.
The search for the couple began when they didn’t keep their commitment, leading to the grisly discovery around midday. The mayor of Villefranche-de-Rouergue, Jean-Sébastien Orcibal, confirmed to local media that the couple’s deaths are being treated as a homicide.
Reports from neighbors revealed that Dawn was found outside their home, with severe head injuries and personal items scattered near her. The police have yet to provide detailed information about the ongoing investigation, and Public Prosecutor Nicolas Rigot-Muller has stated that he is awaiting the results from autopsies and initial findings.
Andrew, a retired fraud investigator, and Dawn, who had a background in project management, moved to France about ten years ago for retirement. The couple was known for their active social life and their efforts to integrate into their community, according to Orcibal.
Their son, Callum Kerr, an actor known from shows like “Virgin River,” played a central role in the couple’s life. Just last year, he walked his mother down the aisle when she married Andrew in France. Callum shared heartfelt memories of the occasion, expressing his love for his mother on social media.
The community has expressed shock and sorrow at the news, as the couple was well-liked and known for their friendly nature. They were often seen walking their two dogs along the river, always taking time to chat with neighbors. The investigation into their deaths continues, with many hoping for swift answers.
