Federal Agents to Conduct Immigration Enforcement Operation in Louisiana and Mississippi
New Orleans, LA – Approximately 250 federal border agents are preparing to deploy to southeast Louisiana and parts of Mississippi in the coming weeks for a two-month operation focused on enforcing immigration laws. The operation, known as “Swamp Sweep,” aims to address the issue of illegal immigration in the region.
The deployment is scheduled to begin around December 1st and is part of a broader effort to ensure that our immigration laws are upheld across the nation.
Louisiana’s Governor Jeff Landry, a Republican, has been working to align state policies with federal enforcement efforts, showing a commitment to securing our borders and enforcing existing laws.
The Border Patrol commander selected to oversee “Swamp Sweep” has experience in coordinating large-scale immigration enforcement operations.
While the Department of Homeland Security has declined to comment specifically on the operation, they affirmed their commitment to the safety and security of law enforcement personnel.
The operation will involve Border Patrol teams working throughout southeast Louisiana, including areas from New Orleans to Baton Rouge, as well as parts of southeastern Mississippi. Agents are expected to arrive in New Orleans soon to prepare for the operation.
Federal officials are establishing staging sites to support the operation, including a command post at the FBI’s New Orleans field office and a naval base for storing vehicles and equipment.
“Swamp Sweep” represents a significant effort to address immigration enforcement and uphold the rule of law.
