Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan is recovering after being stabbed during a break-in at his home in Mumbai, India. The incident occurred early Thursday morning, prompting him to undergo emergency surgery at Lilavati Hospital.
According to reports, Khan, 54, confronted an intruder in his 11th-floor apartment around 2:30 a.m. He was stabbed multiple times while trying to help his maid, who was in a struggle with the intruder. Police Deputy Commissioner Dixit Gedam confirmed that Khan was injured during the incident, and an investigation is underway.
The attacker managed to escape after the incident. Witnesses reported that Khan sustained six stab wounds, with two severe cuts on his back, one of which was close to his spine. Luckily, he has now completed surgery and is said to be out of danger. Doctors are currently monitoring his recovery.
Medical staff revealed that Khan suffered significant damage to his spinal cord from a knife injury, necessitating surgical intervention to remove the blade and address other injuries to his neck and hand.
At the time of the attack, Khan’s wife, actress Kareena Kapoor Khan, and their two children were present but were not harmed. A domestic worker who first raised the alarm was also injured during the confrontation and is assisting police with the investigation.
The police have been unable to locate any CCTV footage of the suspect entering the premises as their inquiry continues.
Saif Ali Khan is a well-known figure in Bollywood, with a career spanning over three decades, appearing in popular films such as “Tanhaji,” “Devara: Part 1,” and “Dil Chahta Hai.”
