The legal battles surrounding the movie “Rust” continue, with a new lawsuit filed against Alec Baldwin. Seth Kenney, whose company supplied props for the film, claims Baldwin and other producers are trying to shift blame for the tragic shooting that killed Halyna Hutchins onto him.
Kenney says he’s been unfairly portrayed in the media, leading to financial hardship and job losses. He alleges Baldwin and the production team used powerful Hollywood insiders to make him a scapegoat.
This lawsuit is the latest in a series of legal actions related to the “Rust” incident. Kenney previously provided blank and dummy rounds for the film. While live rounds were found at his company, prosecutors have said they don’t match the one that killed Hutchins.
Kenney also claims the “Rust” production team used his rental property without paying and left his equipment in police custody. He’s asking a jury to decide how much he should be compensated for the damages he says he’s suffered.
This new lawsuit comes after Baldwin himself sued New Mexico officials, claiming they were trying to prosecute him maliciously. Baldwin’s team suggested Kenney’s company might have accidentally mixed live rounds with the dummy ammunition.
Kenney has stated publicly that he feels like the “villain” in all of this.
