It was part of the Singer Sewing Machine Company, known for creating its iconic wooden sewing cases and stands using timber sourced from this facility. The Poinsett Lumber Co. continued its operations until 1959 when it was acquired by Diehl Manufacturing, another arm of Singer that specialized in making electrical motors and tools for the sewing machine industry.
