American Man Arrested in Greece for Alleged Double Murder in Italy
An American man named Rexal Ford, aged 46, has been arrested in Greece on charges related to the deaths of a 30-year-old mother and her infant daughter. Their bodies were discovered in Villa Pamphili Park, Rome, by local authorities.
Ford was taken into custody after an arrest warrant was issued in Italy, with prosecutors citing strong evidence of his involvement in the deaths. The mother and baby are also believed to be American, according to Italian news sources.
The bodies were found Saturday, both unclothed and without identification. Investigators have not confirmed the cause of death but suspect it may be a double murder, said Deputy Prosecutor Giuseppe Cascini. Reports indicate that the mother might have been killed several days prior to the baby, found several hundred meters away and covered by a black bag.
Prosecutor Francesco Lo Voi remarked on the peculiar situation, noting that it seems odd for someone who was with a woman and a baby, then left the scene without seeking help after their deaths.
Surveillance video and witness accounts indicated Ford, the mother, and the baby were seen multiple times together, including instances where Ford and the mother appeared to argue. Following this, authorities were able to identify the trio using footage from a nearby soup kitchen and testimonies from witnesses.
Ford was eventually tracked down in Greece using cellphone data and fingerprints found on the bag that covered the mother. As he awaits an extradition hearing, police report finding the baby’s dress discarded near the crime scene and noted that the baby was estimated to be 6 to 8 months old.
Forensic teams collected various items from the scene, including clothing, while authorities continue their investigation into this tragic case.
