Shaun Alexander, a former star in the National Football League (NFL), has announced that he and his wife are expecting their 14th child. Alexander, who was named the NFL’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) in 2005 while playing for the Seattle Seahawks, shared the happy news on a recent television appearance.
Speaking on the “Up & Adams” show, Alexander revealed that his wife is pregnant. “We’re just now starting to tell people, but number 14 is in the belly,” Alexander said with a smile, marking the first time he shared the information on television.
Alexander and his wife, Valerie, already have a large family, consisting of 10 daughters and three sons. The couple has not yet revealed the gender of their expected child.
The announcement has drawn comparisons to Philip Rivers, a former quarterback for the Los Angeles Chargers, who is well-known for having 10 children. Alexander’s growing family surpasses that of Rivers, further highlighting the size of the Alexander household.
Beyond his family life, Alexander has expressed his desire to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He hopes his children will have the opportunity to see him enshrined among the greatest players in the sport.
Alexander’s career in the NFL was marked by significant achievements. In 2005, he led the league in rushing yards with 1,880 and scored 27 rushing touchdowns. His performance that year helped the Seahawks reach the Super Bowl, where they were defeated by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
During his time with the Seahawks from 2003 to 2005, Alexander was selected for the Pro Bowl three times in a row. Over nine NFL seasons, eight of which were spent in Seattle, he accumulated 9,453 rushing yards and scored 100 rushing touchdowns in 123 games. He briefly played for the Washington Redskins in 2008.
