Nuggets Triumph Over Thunder in Overtime, Take Series Lead
DENVER — In a dramatic performance, the Denver Nuggets secured a crucial victory against the top-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder, winning 113-104 in overtime. This win puts the Nuggets ahead 2-1 in their Western Conference semifinal series.
Jamal Murray led the way with 27 points, while Aaron Gordon contributed 22 points. Michael Porter Jr. also made an impact with 21 points in what was his best game since his shoulder injury.
Throughout the match, the Nuggets faced challenges, trailing for most of the game. They managed to pull ahead briefly late in the regulation but were unable to maintain a lead. However, they capitalized on a strong overtime performance, going on an 11-2 run after the Thunder struggled to score.
Interim coach David Adelman praised his team’s ability to lean on their experiences during tight moments. Despite an off night for star player Nikola Jokic—who recorded 20 points, 16 rebounds, but struggled with his shooting—Adelman remained optimistic about the team’s performance.
“Game 4 is going to be different for him,” Adelman noted confidently, encouraging Jokic to take more shots.
Game 4 is set for Sunday at Ball Arena, and the Nuggets look to build on their success. Oklahoma City’s coach Mark Daigneault acknowledged the toughness of the game, emphasizing the importance of growth through these playoff challenges.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, another MVP contender, also faced difficulties, shooting poorly while attempting to help the Thunder summarize their strength.
With the tension rising as the series unfolds, both teams are focused on what’s next, each preparing for a key matchup that could determine the outcome of the series.
