Chrisley Siblings Open Up About Tension in New Reality Series
In the first episode of Lifetime’s The Chrisleys: Back to Reality, siblings Chase and Savannah Chrisley shared their ongoing struggles and complex relationship. Both stars addressed the rumors surrounding their strained bond, reflecting on what has driven them apart.
Savannah, 28, expressed her frustration, stating, “Chase and I are on rocky terms because over the past two and a half years, he has not helped me at all.” She felt that her brother has not stepped up during tough times, especially while their parents, Todd and Julie Chrisley, are serving time in prison. The two were once incredibly close, growing up as best friends just 14 months apart in age.
Chase, 29, offered his perspective, suggesting that Savannah often seeks help only when it suits her. He mentioned, “She wants to be able to say she’s done it on her own.” The tension between the siblings leaves them with unresolved issues, leading Savannah to acknowledge, “There’s a lot of resentment,” and expressing doubt about whether their relationship can be repaired.
Later in the episode, during a family dinner, Chase voiced his desire to reconnect with Savannah, stating, “I love her to death, but Savannah doesn’t like me half the time.” He emphasized the need for open communication to move past their issues, rather than skirting around them.
Tensions within the family weren’t limited to the siblings. Savannah clashed with her grandfather, Harvey Hughes, regarding her public stance on her parents’ legal troubles and her conservative political views. Harvey argued that public perception is crucial in enacting change, and Savannah countered that her efforts are raising awareness at a governmental level.
As the discussions grew more heated, Savannah expressed her frustration, even silently mouthing, “I hate him!” to a family member. This moment illustrates the complexities faced by the Chrisley family, which has also experienced a rift with other relatives, notably Lindsie and Kyle Chrisley.
As the show progresses, viewers can expect ongoing developments in these family dynamics. The two-night premiere event of The Chrisleys: Back to Reality continues on September 2, with new episodes airing every Monday and Tuesday through September 16.
