In Ohio, a dentist and his wife were killed not long after celebrating their fifth wedding anniversary.
Spencer and Monique Tepe were found dead in their home in Columbus on December 30th. Police identified Monique’s ex-husband, Michael David McKee, 39, as the main suspect. They tracked his car using security cameras in the area.
According to their obituary, Spencer, 37, and Monique, 39, met online and got married in a small ceremony with family on December 13, 2020.
The obituary also mentioned that they had two children together and were known for hosting gatherings and being kind and generous.
Just weeks after their anniversary, McKee was arrested and charged with their murders on January 10th. He and Monique had finalized their divorce in June 2017.
Police reports say the couple was found with gunshot wounds after a welfare check was requested when Spencer didn’t show up for work.
When officers arrived at the house, they didn’t get an answer. Later, a friend called again, saying they could hear children crying inside and could see Spencer’s body.
Spencer and Monique were pronounced dead at the scene. Their two young children, ages 1 and 4, were unharmed and are now being cared for by family.
A relative of Spencer said the children were happy and unaware of what had happened. He added that they are in good hands and being well taken care of.
A friend said Spencer and Monique were very much in love and were devoted parents.
A neighbor of McKee said she was shocked by the news, as he seemed like a normal person.
A funeral for Spencer and Monique was held on January 11th, followed by a celebration of their lives.
