The U.S. Military Takes Action Against Drug Traffickers in the Caribbean
The U.S. military announced Friday that it has carried out another strike against a vessel believed to be involved in drug trafficking in the Caribbean Sea.
U.S. Southern Command reported that the boat was traveling along known routes used by drug traffickers and was actively involved in drug operations. The strike resulted in the deaths of three individuals. A video associated with the announcement showed a boat moving through the water before being engulfed in flames.
This recent action brings the total number of deaths from strikes on suspected drug boats to 133, across at least 38 attacks in the Caribbean Sea and eastern Pacific Ocean.
U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stated last week that some major drug traffickers in the region have stopped their operations indefinitely because of recent U.S. actions in the Caribbean.
President Donald Trump has previously stated that the U.S. is in conflict with cartels in Latin America and has defended these strikes as necessary to stop the flow of illegal drugs into the country.
