Former President Donald Trump emphasized the construction of a defense system similar to Israel’s Iron Dome as a key priority during a Republican dinner in Florida. He expressed the need for immediate action on this project and indicated plans to sign an executive order to kickstart the initiative.
At the event, Trump praised his recently confirmed Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, stating he has high expectations for Hegseth’s performance. Trump noted that under Hegseth’s leadership, the U.S. will begin developing a state-of-the-art missile defense shield aimed at ensuring the safety of American citizens.
The former president highlighted that while the United States has been involved in protecting other nations, it is time to focus on national defense. He pointed out that during President Ronald Reagan’s time, discussions around such a defense system were hindered by a lack of technology. “Now we possess the technology we need,” Trump stated, referencing advancements seen in Israel’s defense capabilities.
Trump assured attendees that this Iron Dome project would be a purely American endeavor, stating, “Everything will be made right here in the USA 100%.” He reaffirmed the United States’ goal to maintain the most powerful military force globally.
The State Department has confirmed that developing the Iron Dome system will be among Hegseth’s key responsibilities, alongside other priorities such as reassessing military personnel policies.
This isn’t the first time Trump has brought up the idea of a U.S. Iron Dome. He referenced this initiative during various campaign events and reiterated his commitment to building a robust missile defense shield. “By the next term, we will have a great Iron Dome over our country,” he promised, asserting that all components of this system would be manufactured domestically.
As the national security landscape continues to change, it appears that this proposed project is a clear sign of Trump’s dedication to strengthening America’s defense infrastructure.
