Two young sisters lost their lives in a tragic car accident in California, with a speeding and allegedly drunk driver believed to be responsible. Authorities report that the incident took place late Sunday night in Rialto, a city near San Bernardino.
The local police have arrested a 28-year-old man named Alexis Garcia, who is facing murder charges related to the deaths of the two girls. According to officials, Garcia was driving a Dodge Ram pickup truck when he ran a red light at the intersection of Riverside and Walnut avenues around 11 p.m. on November 24. His vehicle collided with a Honda that was carrying the sisters and their parents, pushing the family car into a tow truck.
Despite being secured in car seats, both girls were tragically pronounced dead at the scene. Although authorities have not publicly identified them, their parents have shared their names as Neveah, aged 4, and Alinah, aged 3. They referred to their daughters as their “beloved angels.”
After the crash, Garcia allegedly fled the scene but was later apprehended by the police and found to be under the influence of alcohol. He now faces two counts of murder. At this time, it is unclear whether he has entered a plea or hired legal representation.
In addition to their tragic loss, the girls’ father, Marky Flores, suffered a broken leg and will require surgery. The family is seeking support to cover medical costs and funeral expenses through a fundraising campaign, which has so far raised nearly $28,000 towards their $30,000 goal.
