Hundreds of people gathered in Hong Kong on Saturday to witness the city’s first-ever drone fireworks show, aimed at raising awareness for panda conservation. This visually stunning display lasted for ten minutes and featured 1,000 drones. These drones, some equipped with fireworks, illuminated the Victoria Harbour by creating images of giant pandas in the sky.
During the event, drones launched fireworks while others formed a three-dimensional, slowly rotating panda, captivating the audience. Many attendees arrived hours early to secure the best spots for viewing.
Eddie Chow, who attended with his two children, expressed his enthusiasm, noting that such events could help attract more tourists to Hong Kong. “I think the program was excellent. The combination of fireworks and drones is unique. Hong Kong should host more activities like this,” said Chow.
Local resident Jodi Hung also praised the show, describing it as “fantastic.” She appreciated the skill of the designers, highlighting how they successfully blended artistry with technology.
In recent weeks, Hong Kong has hosted various activities, including exhibitions and a panda-themed carnival, following the arrival of two giant pandas, An An and Ke Ke, gifted by Beijing. With these additions, the total number of giant pandas in Hong Kong now stands at six, all residing at Ocean Park, which features both amusement park rides and animal exhibits.
