Tragic Accident at Oregon Waterfall Claims One Life
Bend, Oregon — A tragic incident occurred over the weekend as a group of individuals was swept over Dillon Falls, resulting in the death of one person and leaving two others unaccounted for.
According to the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened Saturday afternoon on the Deschutes River, about ten miles from Bend. Emergency responders successfully rescued three individuals, who were then transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Sadly, one person was pronounced dead at the scene.
Search and rescue operations resumed Sunday morning after a brief pause on Saturday evening. Sgt. Josh Barker of the sheriff’s office reported that efforts were ongoing to locate the two missing individuals.
Details about the victims and the circumstances leading to the accident have not yet been made public. Dillon Falls, located within the scenic Deschutes National Forest, is known for its steep drop followed by tumultuous rapids that flow through a narrow lava rock gorge.
