Tragic Incident in Texas: Family and Officer Affected
A heartbreaking incident in Texas has left three people and two dogs dead after what authorities are calling a murder-suicide. The tragic events unfolded over the weekend and also left a law enforcement officer facing serious injuries.
The suspect has been identified as 38-year-old James Scott Grigory, who allegedly killed his mother, father, and their two dogs. During the incident, Grigory also shot a deputy from the Leon County Sheriff’s Office as they responded to a welfare check.
Leon County Sheriff Kevin Ellis stated that officers were called to investigate a report concerning a person who claimed to have harmed their parents in Normangee, a small town about 120 miles east of Austin.
When law enforcement arrived, Grigory reportedly opened fire as they attempted to communicate with someone inside the home. One deputy was injured, sustaining gunshot wounds to the face and arm, and was airlifted to receive medical care.
Following the shooting, a SWAT team was deployed to secure the area. Upon entering the residence, they discovered the bodies of Grigory’s father and the two dogs. Grigory was found deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound shortly after.
Meanwhile, a separate team of deputies was conducting a welfare check at the home of Grigory’s mother, where they also found her dead from an apparent gunshot wound.
The Texas Rangers are now leading the investigation into this tragic event. Thankfully, the deputy who was shot is in stable condition and waiting for surgery. The names of the three victims have not yet been disclosed.
