Tennis Player Sorana Cirstea’s Trophy Stolen in New York Hotel
Tennis star Sorana Cirstea has reported that her trophy was stolen from her hotel room in New York while she was competing at the U.S. Open. The incident occurred as she was playing in the tournament after recently winning a women’s competition in Cleveland.
In a heartfelt appeal on Instagram, Cirstea asked for the return of the trophy, emphasizing its sentimental value over any material worth. “Whoever stole my Cleveland trophy from room 314 at The Fifty Sonesta please give it back! It has NO material value, just sentimental value. It would be greatly appreciated!” she wrote late Saturday night, two days after her exit from the tournament.
Cirstea, a 35-year-old player hailing from Romania, celebrated her third career singles title earlier this month in Cleveland. Unfortunately, her run at the U.S. Open ended in the second round against the tournament’s No. 11 seed, Karolina Muchova.
As of now, the hotel has not provided any comments regarding the theft.
