A former doctor in Wisconsin is going to prison for six years because he shared child pornography.
Calvin Eriksen, who is 47 years old, learned his punishment from Judge Brett H. Ludwig on Thursday, January 29.
The reason Eriksen was arrested is that the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) got four tips about online accounts on Kik that were sharing illegal pictures and videos of children.
The investigation led to Eriksen’s home and workplace, where police found images showing babies and young children being abused.
A search warrant showed that Eriksen had over 350 inappropriate pictures and more than 60 videos on his Kik account.
He also talked online with a police officer who was pretending to be the mother of an 8-year-old girl.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office said that Eriksen wanted to hurt the officer’s daughter and even sent a naked picture of himself.
After he gets out of prison, Eriksen will be watched for seven years and will have to register as a sex offender.
Froedtert Hospital and the Medical College of Wisconsin put him on leave after he was arrested on July 15, 2025.
The hospital said they stopped him from seeing patients and are helping the police.
In August, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said that Eriksen was charged with sharing child pornography.
Eriksen admitted he was guilty in October 2025, according to court records.
U.S. Attorney Brad Schimel said that protecting children is the most important thing and they will keep working hard to catch and punish people who hurt them.
He also said that this case shows that people who harm children can come from any background.
