Police are looking for a man after his girlfriend was found dead in their New York home.
Amanda Rodriguez, 41, was found dead on Sunday, September 14, in her home in Cohoes, New York. Police are looking for her boyfriend, 53-year-old Anthony Bechand.
Bechand’s truck was found the same day about 150 miles away in the Adirondacks.
An autopsy showed that Rodriguez died from multiple stab wounds.
The mayor of Cohoes, Bill Keeler, said that there is evidence that puts Bechand at the scene when the crime happened.
After Rodriguez was found, police asked for help from the New York State Police to find Bechand.
The police chief of Cohoes, Todd Waldin, said that Bechand might have a weapon and could be dangerous. As of Friday, September 18, police were still looking for Bechand using officers, helicopters, drones, and dogs.
Waldin said that they are checking everywhere and that they don’t want a dangerous person like Bechand out in public. He also said that they want to give Rodriguez’s family some peace by finding him.
A friend of Rodriguez, Letha Cruz, said that the couple had problems before. She knew they fought and were not good for each other, but she never thought this would happen.
Cruz said that Rodriguez was always kind and full of light. She was always there to protect people who couldn’t protect themselves.
If you have seen Bechand or know where he is, please call the New York State Police at 518-897-2000.
