Tragic Family Incident in California
A heartbreaking incident unfolded in California when a mother of two, Yesennia Rocha, was shot and killed by her estranged husband, Michael Rocha, in front of their children on Saturday. Yesennia, who had recently filed for divorce after 25 years of marriage, lost her life during a tragic family dispute.
According to local reports, the shooting took place at their home in Reedley, California. Following the incident, Michael fled the scene but was located by police the next day about 30 miles away in Woodlake. A standoff with officers escalated into a shootout, resulting in Michael being shot and killed by the police.
Yesennia was only 43 years old. Her loss has left a profound impact on their two adult children, Kayla and Jacob Rocha. In a tearful statement, Kayla described her mother as “the light of our world,” expressing how much she meant to both her and her brother. According to the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office, when officers approached Michael on Sunday, he fired at them with a rifle, prompting police to return fire. Sheriff Mike Boudreaux remarked on the chaotic nature of the incident, stating that Michael essentially faced the consequences of his choices.
Reedley Police Chief Mark Ediger noted the tragic turn of events, highlighting how quickly the family was shattered—both children lost both parents within just one day.
