Lions Face Injury Challenges in Loss to Rams
INGLEWOOD, CA – The Detroit Lions faced another setback on Sunday as they lost to the Los Angeles Rams 41-34. The team’s defense, already dealing with several injuries, saw cornerback Amik Robertson leave the game with a hand injury.
Robertson was seen after the game with his hand in a brace or sling. He mentioned he was unsure about the seriousness of the injury. This latest injury adds to the Lions’ already long list of injured players, especially in their defensive backfield.
“I have nothing right now,” Lions coach Dan Campbell said about Robertson’s injury. “I won’t know until tomorrow.”
The Lions have been struggling with injuries to their defensive backs throughout the season. In Sunday’s game, they were already without their top safeties Kerby Joseph, Brian Branch, and Thomas Harper, as well as cornerback Terrion Arnold.
Branch and Arnold are currently on injured reserve and have had surgery that ended their seasons. Joseph has been out with a knee injury. Harper was also out due to a brain injury.
Avonte Maddox and Erick Hallett were the starting safeties for Sunday’s game. Robertson, D.J. Reed, and Rock Ya-Sin took turns at cornerback.
The Lions have now lost four of their last seven games since their week off. They also allowed the most points they’ve given up in a game this season. Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford completed 24 of 38 passes for 368 yards and threw two touchdowns in the second half. This helped the Rams come back from a 10-point deficit in the second quarter to win the game.
