Goldie Hawn Emphasizes Importance of Struggle for Kids
Famed actress Goldie Hawn recently shared her thoughts on raising children, emphasizing the need for them to experience challenges and not be given everything they desire.
In a recent interview, Hawn spoke about what she sees as an increasing trend of “coddling” children. She believes kids benefit from not always getting what they want and from having to work for things. She recalled how she didn’t constantly buy her daughter, Kate Hudson, new clothes, even when she was growing out of them. Instead, Kate learned to be creative and resourceful with her wardrobe.
Hawn also highlighted the importance of children contributing to the household and participating in activities like sports. She mentioned that her sons played hockey, which she believes taught them valuable life lessons about resilience and dealing with setbacks.
In addition to her parenting insights, Hawn touched on her successful, decades-long relationship with Kurt Russell. She attributed their lasting bond to the freedom and independence they allow each other, despite never marrying.
Hawn and Russell first crossed paths in 1966 but didn’t become a couple until reconnecting in 1983. They blended their families, which include Hawn’s children, Oliver and Kate Hudson, and Russell’s son, Boston.
Hawn also noted the importance of physical intimacy in maintaining a strong relationship with Kurt. She believes that a healthy and warm connection is essential for long-term happiness.
