In Gaza, a young girl’s death raises questions about the ceasefire.
Deir al-Balah, Gaza Strip – Recent reports indicate that an 11-year-old girl in Gaza died from gunfire. This has brought up concerns about how well the agreed-upon ceasefire is holding up.
According to family members, Hamsa Housou was at her home in the Jabaliya area when the incident happened. This area was supposed to be a safe zone. After being injured, she was taken to Shifa Hospital, but doctors couldn’t save her.
Hamsa’s uncle stated that the family had returned to their home after the ceasefire was announced some time ago. He recounted hearing screams and finding his niece injured after reported shelling in the area.
The uncle questioned the reality of the ceasefire, pointing to continued reports of explosions and gunfire. He claimed that the neighborhood where the family lives has been subjected to daily gunfire, even though it is supposedly within the agreed-upon ceasefire lines.
The Israeli military has stated in the past that their actions are in response to violations of the ceasefire agreement.
Reports state that a significant number of Palestinians have died since the ceasefire began. These figures come from the Gaza Health Ministry.
It’s important to remember that the conflict began after an attack that saw people killed and others taken hostage. Efforts are still ongoing to find those who are missing.
