Maxwell Hairston Faces Lawsuit Amid NFL Career
Buffalo, N.Y. — Maxwell Hairston, the Buffalo Bills’ first-round draft pick, is facing serious allegations in a lawsuit filed this week. The lawsuit claims that Hairston sexually assaulted a woman in 2021 while attending the University of Kentucky.
According to the lawsuit filed in federal court in Kentucky, Hairston allegedly entered the woman’s dorm room without permission, ignored her refusal for sexual contact, and forcibly assaulted her. Out of respect for privacy, the media typically does not disclose the identities of alleged victims in such cases.
Attempts to reach Hairston’s agents for comment were unsuccessful. The Buffalo Bills have chosen not to comment further on the allegations but have referred to previous statements made by general manager Brandon Beane. Beane mentioned in April that the team had conducted a “full investigation” into the 2021 allegations, describing Hairston as an “impeccable kid.” He expressed his regret over how such accusations can tarnish a person’s reputation, while suggesting that the evidence did not support the claims.
Hairston, originally from West Bloomfield, Michigan, played at Kentucky for three seasons before being selected by the Bills as the 30th overall pick in the NFL draft. At just 21 years old, Hairston is vying for a starting position as a cornerback this upcoming season.
The Bills have been on break since their mandatory practices ended in mid-June and will return for training camp later this month.
