James Van Der Beek, known for his roles in “Dawson’s Creek” and “Varsity Blues,” is offering fans a unique opportunity to own a piece of his legacy. The actor is auctioning off props, costumes, and memorabilia from his long career, with all the money raised going towards his fight against cancer.
Van Der Beek, age 48, is working with Propstore for an auction scheduled for December 5–7, 2025. Last year, the actor bravely shared that he was diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer.
In a statement, Van Der Beek mentioned he had been holding onto these items, waiting for the right moment to do something meaningful with them. Given the recent challenges, he felt now was the appropriate time. He expressed gratitude to his fans and hopes they’ll enjoy owning a piece of his history.
Among the items up for auction is the necklace his character Dawson gave to Joey on “Dawson’s Creek,” estimated to sell for a significant amount. Also available is his outfit from the show’s first episode. “Varsity Blues” fans can bid on his football cleats and a West Canaan Coyotes hat from the movie.
The auction will take place in London, with opportunities for people around the world to participate online.
Van Der Beek’s decision to auction his memorabilia comes after revealing his cancer diagnosis in November 2024. He assured fans that he’s actively addressing the situation with the support of his family.
He also said that despite these challenges, he remains optimistic.
Van Der Beek has balanced his acting career with his family life. He and his wife, Kimberly, have six children. His career has included roles from “Dawson’s Creek” to “Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23,” and he’s also set to appear in the “Legally Blonde” prequel series, “Elle.”
