A person is in the hospital in very bad condition after being shot in an incident involving U.S. Border Patrol in Arizona.
The shooting happened on Tuesday in Arivaca, Arizona, a town close to the border with Mexico.
The local fire department, the Santa Rita Fire District (SRFD), said they found someone who had been taken into custody and was seriously hurt. They gave the person medical help right away and then had them flown to a hospital.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department (PCSD) said that the FBI asked them to investigate the shooting. They explained that this is normal when a federal agency is involved in a shooting in their county. The sheriff’s department also said they will look closely at everything that happened but that these kinds of investigations take time.
The sheriff, Chris Nanos, held a meeting to talk about the shooting.
The FBI said they are looking into whether a federal officer was attacked. They said the person involved is in custody but didn’t say how badly they were hurt or what led to the shooting.
