Texas Governor Greg Abbott has officially declared his intention to run for a fourth term, emphasizing his commitment to protect Texas from what he describes as “far-left progressive insanity.” Announcing his campaign in Houston, Abbott vowed to continue promoting the values that have guided his leadership as governor.
In his speech, he stated, “Texas is the heartbeat of this land we call America. As Texans, we will defend this state with every fiber of our being. We will protect what we built. We will finish what we started. We will lead Texas into its glorious future.”
Abbott shared a personal reflection on the challenges he has faced, particularly following an accident that left him paralyzed. He believes that Texans can redefine their lives by how they respond to adversity, showcasing what he calls the “trademark resilience” of the state.
A key part of his campaign is the push for property tax reforms. Abbott is advocating for Texas voters to be empowered to eliminate school property taxes through direct voting and ensuring that any future tax increases require a two-thirds majority to pass. He stated, “It’s time to drive a stake through the heart of local property tax hikes for good.”
Abbott warned that Texas could face dire consequences if voters do not remain vigilant, stating, “What we have in Texas is precious, but it can all be destroyed in one bad election. Make no mistake: Democrats want that election to be this election.” He pledged to ensure that Texas remains a strong, safe, and prosperous state for future generations.
Since taking office in 2014, Abbott has focused on multiple key issues: reducing property taxes, increasing funding for public education, ensuring border security, and upholding the sanctity of life.
As he embarks on his reelection campaign, Abbott will face challenges from several Democratic contenders, including State Rep. Gina Hinojosa, who criticizes Abbott for failing to adequately support Texas families.
Despite opposition, Abbott remains focused on economic growth, religious freedoms, securing the border, and defending Second Amendment rights, all central tenants of his campaign. His dedication to these principles resonates with many Texans who appreciate a strong, steady leadership as the state navigates its future.
