A 19-year-old man, Azmir Djurkovic, found himself in trouble when he tried to speed his way to a job interview. On June 4, he was pursued by Connecticut State Police after being clocked driving over 130 MPH on Interstate 91 in Cromwell.
The police first attempted to stop Djurkovic when an officer noticed his Mercedes E300 driving much faster than the surrounding traffic. The officer estimated his speed to be around 132 MPH, confirmed by a radar. However, as the officer tried to make the stop, Djurkovic accelerated and began weaving dangerously in and out of traffic. Concerned for public safety, the officer decided to end the chase.
After the incident, police identified Djurkovic as the driver and contacted him. When they spoke, he admitted to driving and explained that he hadn’t stopped because he was late for his interview.
Djurkovic later met the police at Troop H in Hartford, where he was arrested peacefully. He faced several charges, including reckless driving and failure to obey police signals. He was released on a $2,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on June 17.
Whether he made it to the job interview remains unclear.
