Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to the American people and their leaders, emphasizing the importance of strong relations between the two countries. This message came shortly after a tense meeting with former President Donald Trump at the White House, which left many unsure about the support Ukraine might expect from the United States.
Zelenskyy arrived hoping to finalize an agreement on critical minerals with the U.S., seeing it as a potential step toward a fair ceasefire. However, he left without securing the deal he desired. In a series of posts on social media, Zelenskyy highlighted his appreciation for the unwavering support from the American people, and he specifically thanked Trump and Congress.
“Our connection with the American president represents more than just two leaders; it symbolizes a historic and solid relationship between our peoples,” he said. “The American people helped save our nation. We are simply looking for strong relations with the U.S. and hope to achieve that.”
After leaving Washington, Zelenskyy traveled to the United Kingdom, where he is set to meet with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer later in the day.
