Zachary Levi Stands Up for Rachel Zegler Amid Controversy
Zachary Levi, the actor known for his role in "Shazam!", is coming to the defense of "Snow White" star Rachel Zegler. Despite her recent social media post where she wished for Trump voters to "never know peace," Levi believes in giving her a second chance.
In a recent interview, Levi acknowledged the backlash Zegler faced for her outspoken views, especially regarding supporters of former President Donald Trump. Levi, who starred alongside Zegler in "Shazam! Fury of The Gods," expressed that many people’s opinions are shaped by misleading information.
He said, "Should I hate her because she’s influenced by voices claiming Trump is akin to Hitler and his supporters are Nazis? I don’t think that’s fair." Levi sees talent in Zegler and believes she genuinely wants good for the world.
Zegler has sparked debate with her comments throughout the promotion of Disney’s live-action "Snow White." She criticized the original animated film’s traditional values, once calling for "Free Palestine." After Trump’s recent election win, she made her controversial remarks about his supporters, including a post that read, “F— Donald Trump.”
Though she later apologized, many believe her harsh words contributed to the film’s poor box office performance this year.
Levi, who is known for being outspoken himself, has faced challenges in Hollywood for his values, including his skepticism about the COVID-19 vaccine and support for Robert F. Kennedy Jr. He has also expressed his endorsement for Trump.
His political views have created rifts among friends in the industry. Robert Duncan McNeill, a longtime friend, emphasized that while they maintain their friendship, he does not support Levi’s political stance. "I love Zach dearly, but I don’t want my feelings about him to be seen as an endorsement of his beliefs," McNeill said.
In contrast, fellow actor Laura Benanti has distanced herself from Levi following his controversial remarks about the COVID vaccine’s impacts on a castmate’s death.
As Hollywood continues to navigate political discussions, Levi’s willingness to defend Zegler showcases a different side of celebrity culture, one where understanding and dialogue can take precedence over division.
