President Donald Trump has secured a $24.5 million settlement with YouTube, marking a significant win in his ongoing battle with Big Tech regarding free speech and conservative representation online. This agreement puts an end to a legal dispute that began in October 2021 after YouTube suspended his account in January 2021, citing violations of its policies against violence.
Most of the settlement funds will contribute to the construction of the new White House ballroom, while $2.5 million will be distributed to other plaintiffs involved in the case, including the American Conservative Union and author Naomi Wolf, along with several individuals.
This development comes shortly after YouTube announced plans to reinstate certain accounts that were previously banned for alleged misinformation concerning COVID-19. In their statement, YouTube emphasized the importance of conservative voices, acknowledging their broad reach and essential role in public discourse.
