A woman escaped what she claimed was a kidnapping by jumping out of a moving car in Tennessee.
Around 12:45 a.m. on a Thursday, police responded to an alarm at a gas station in South Nashville. When they arrived, they found a naked woman with visible injuries who needed urgent medical help.
She later told officers she had been in an argument with her ex-boyfriend, Marquintis Jenkins, for several hours. During the dispute, she stated that he stripped her clothes, attempted to strangle her, and forced her into his car while pointing an AR-15 style rifle at her.
As Jenkins drove, he reportedly said he was taking her to a lake to drown her. Whenever they stopped, he is accused of punching and choking her.
At one point on Murfreesboro Pike, she jumped out of the moving vehicle and ran to the gas station for safety. Jenkins reportedly turned his car around to look for her, but she managed to hide in nearby bushes until it was safe to enter the gas station. She waited in the store’s back until help arrived.
Jenkins was taken into custody later that day, facing several serious charges, including aggravated assault, kidnapping, and attempted homicide. His bail has been set at $260,000. He is scheduled to appear in court soon.
