A woman in Texas has been charged with murder after allegedly killing her boyfriend following a dispute over messages from another woman on his phone.
According to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, 23-year-old Tatyana Evans was arrested on February 11 after her boyfriend, Geovanni Montague, 28, was found dead in Houston. The sheriff reported that Montague had multiple gunshot wounds and was discovered outside his home on February 9.
Gonzalez mentioned that the couple had a tumultuous relationship, suggesting that jealousy may have played a role in the crime.
Local news sources indicate that investigators found a video showing Evans’ car leaving the crime scene shortly after witnesses reported hearing gunfire. It was alleged that Evans confronted Montague about the messages from another woman on the night of the incident, with police stating that she admitted to the killing during questioning.
During a court appearance on February 12, the judge scolded Evans for interrupting proceedings, emphasizing that while she claimed Montague grabbed at her, she shot him multiple times.
Sheriff Gonzalez noted that Montague was a decorated Army veteran and had been employed by Amazon at the time of his death. Evans’ bond has been set at $250,000, and she is scheduled to appear in court again on April 3.
