Henry Winkler, a well-known actor, recently shared his views on how America treats its older citizens. At the AARP’s Movies for Grownups Awards, Winkler, who is 80 years old, told Fox News Digital that he believes the U.S. doesn’t fully appreciate the wisdom and experience of older generations, unlike some other countries. He emphasized that he learned a great deal from those who came before him.
Winkler also talked about his friendship with fellow actor Adam Sandler, explaining that it began when he thanked Sandler for mentioning him in his “Chanukah Song.” Sandler then invited him to be in the movie “The Waterboy,” and Winkler went on to appear in several other Sandler films.
Sandler also spoke at the event, sharing that he makes his kids clean the counter before leaving the house. The AARP event celebrated the winners of the 2026 Movies for Grownups Awards and honored Adam Sandler.
Winkler and Sandler have worked together on “The Waterboy” and “Click.” Winkler’s career began in 1973, and he’s been in many popular shows and movies, including “Happy Days,” “Arrested Development,” and “Barry.” He is currently filming a new movie called “Rolling Loud.”
