WhatsApp Fixes Security Flaw Affecting Apple Devices
WhatsApp has recently addressed a serious security flaw that posed risks to certain Apple device users. This vulnerability, which was connected to a problem in Apple’s iOS and iPadOS systems, allowed hackers to potentially steal sensitive information from targeted individuals.
According to a blog post from WhatsApp, the issue was significant enough that it drew the attention of security experts. Donncha Ó Cearbhaill from Amnesty’s Security Lab noted that the malicious activity persisted for about 90 days. He also mentioned that other applications, in addition to WhatsApp, could have been impacted by this situation.
WhatsApp has confirmed that fewer than 200 users were directly targeted and has reached out to those affected. The company is urging all users to update their app to the newest version to ensure their security.
So far, it remains unclear who was behind the attacks or which spyware might have been used. Apple has also recognized this vulnerability and has taken steps to address it through their own patches.
As technology continues to evolve, it’s crucial for users to stay vigilant and regularly update their devices to safeguard against potential threats.
