According to the New York Police Department, they responded to a welfare check at the residence on West 35th Street following a 911 call. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrived and transported the 60-year-old television personality to a local hospital for evaluation.
Reports indicate that Williams threw a handwritten note from her window that read, “Help! Wendy!!,” which prompted the emergency response.
Since May 2022, Williams has been under a court-appointed guardianship. In a recent interview, she expressed that her situation feels like a “prison” and denied having any cognitive impairment. She described living among older individuals at the facility, feeling that many of them had issues that were concerning.
Williams conveyed her frustration about the extreme supervision she faces, explaining that while she can make outgoing calls, she isn’t allowed to receive calls from others.
Earlier this year, her team announced that she has been diagnosed with primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia (FTD), conditions that have a significant impact on language and cognitive abilities. Wendy reflected on her experiences, noting the challenges she has faced in processing information and managing simple tasks.
