Vice President JD Vance recently expressed strong support for the Trump administration’s efforts to address illegal immigration through increased enforcement measures. In an interview with Sean Hannity, Vance emphasized that the government aims to remove criminal migrants at an impressive rate of nearly 2,000 daily.
With the U.S. currently grappling with an estimated 20 million illegal immigrants, Vance highlighted the need to take decisive action. “We need to remove these individuals from our communities and reassert control over our borders,” he stated.
Under Trump’s leadership, the number of migrants attempting to cross the southern border has significantly decreased, dropping by over 60% in the first week of his renewed presidency compared to the last week of the Biden administration. Vance underlined the importance of effective policy changes, asserting, “Elections have consequences. President Trump focused on regaining control of the border, and that’s what we are accomplishing.”
As part of the ongoing efforts, migrants from countries such as Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, Guatemala, and Ecuador are being returned to their home countries. Vance reinforced a clear message for those considering illegal entry into the U.S.: “Do not come here unlawfully, not now, not ever.”
Addressing concerns from critics regarding the enforcement measures, Vance pointed to Trump’s recent electoral victory as a mandate from the American people to pursue this tough stance on immigration. He remarked, “This is how democracy functions in our nation, and it’s essential.”
Furthermore, the vice president revealed that the government previously knew the identities of some criminal migrants residing in the U.S. but had not acted until recently. “It’s alarming that we were aware of individuals with violent criminal histories and did nothing until Donald Trump took office again,” Vance stated, implying that a more assertive approach to immigration enforcement is now underway.
