Two sheriff’s deputies were injured in a gunfire exchange with a wanted man at a truck stop in Virginia. This incident took place on Friday, March 28, when the police in Greensboro, North Carolina, alerted the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) about a potential lead on Edmond Johnson, who was wanted in connection with a shooting.
Police later located Johnson at Love’s Truck Stop in Lambsburg, Virginia. He was found inside his tractor-trailer parked off Interstate 77. When deputies approached the vehicle, Johnson exited and began firing at the officers, leading to a shootout.
During the confrontation, two deputies were struck by bullets, and Johnson was also killed. Fortunately, the injured deputies were taken to local hospitals and are currently reported to be in stable condition, as confirmed by Carroll County Sheriff Kevin Kemp.
The names of the wounded deputies have not been shared, and the incident is now being investigated by the Virginia State Police, with further comments from Sheriff Kemp pending.
