Vance Highlights Concerns Over Treatment of Federal Officers in Minneapolis
Minneapolis, MN – Vice President JD Vance recently shared a troubling account from a visit to Minneapolis, raising questions about the safety and support for federal immigration officers in the city.
Vance described an incident where off-duty Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers were targeted while having dinner. According to Vance, their location was revealed, and a crowd gathered at the restaurant, effectively trapping the officers inside.
“When I was in Minneapolis, I heard a number of crazy stories. But near the top of the list: A couple of off duty ICE and CBP officers were going to dinner in Minneapolis,” Vance wrote. “They were doxed and their location revealed, and the restaurant was then mobbed. The officers were locked in the restaurant.”
Vance also stated that local police did not respond to the officers’ calls for assistance, and they were eventually aided by fellow federal agents.
Vance sees this incident as part of a larger problem, where a lack of cooperation with federal immigration enforcement by state and local officials has created a dangerous environment. He believes this reluctance to support law enforcement leads to chaos and allows politicians to exploit tragic events for political gain.
Vance is urging Minneapolis officials to change their approach and work with federal authorities to ensure the safety and effectiveness of immigration enforcement efforts. He hopes that Minneapolis authorities will stop this madness.
These concerns come after a recent shooting incident involving a Border Patrol agent and a protester, further highlighting the tensions surrounding immigration enforcement in Minneapolis.
